Oberhausen stands for the industrial heritage of an entire region, and its history is long and eventful. This is where the region’s first ironworks was founded in 1758 – well before the city was officially established in 1862 – and today you’ll find not only plenty of historic landmarks but an impressive choice of modern event venues. With around 210,000 residents, Oberhausen is a dynamic city with a lot to offer, culturally and economically.
The city on the Emscher is famous for its Gasometer. At 117 metres, it’s regarded as Europe’s tallest industrial monument, and it’s an out-of-the-ordinary venue for team events too. Right next door, CentrO, Europe’s largest shopping and leisure centre, offers fun activities for groups. Companies such as KODI and Bilfinger are based here, but visitors find plenty of highlights as well: from historic sights like Burg Vondern to sports grounds steeped in tradition such as the Stadion Niederrhein, home of Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, a former Bundesliga club.
In and around the city there are plenty of ways to challenge your team and help it develop.
