Leverkusen sits right on the Rhine, between the big cities of Cologne and Düsseldorf. It is primarily known as home to Bayer AG – and to the football club that goes with it, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, who have won the German championship once. Funnily enough, the city of 160,000 people is named after a former chemicals company. Founded by Carl Leverkus, it was sold on to Bayer in 1891, and ever since, city and company have been inseparable. But there’s more to Leverkusen than that first association: it has a surprising range of places and sights worth a day out. All of which makes it the perfect setting for first-class corporate events that strengthen your team chemistry for the long run.
At heart, Leverkusen is an industrial city through and through. Yet its many parks and green spaces offer quite a contrast.
