Christmas golf tournament: tee off for team spirit!
A highlight at any Christmas party: our Christmas golf tournament. On tricky indoor courses, the groups keep collecting decorations for their dwarf Alberta spruces. The teams with the most magnificently decorated trees go on to win the tournament.
Club in hand, chasing balls – and baubles
Our Christmas golf tournament is fun for everyone: we bring our mobile golf course into your hotel, your offices or the venue of your choice and set up a varied course. So you might find yourself playing in the dark, in lifts, in the lobby or in the underground car park. Here’s the twist: everyone gets a mini Christmas tree at the start, and the decorations have to be won at the different stations… At the award ceremony we also crown the best team and get to marvel at (hopefully) magnificently decorated little trees.

How Christmas golf tournament works
Why not start your own golf club with your colleagues? After all, your company’s big Christmas tournament is just around the corner. We’ve brought something along… teamio plants a tree for every corporate event. But at Christmas golf we don’t always take our motto “one tree – one event” quite literally. When we welcome you to this indoor team event at Christmas, the trees are already on the tables. One Christmas tree for every player, to be precise: a potted dwarf Alberta spruce, about 35 cm tall. Naturally, your tree starts out bare. Your mission: deck it out magnificently with baubles. And don’t forget the star on top.
The golf clubs are formed in no time, and the rules are explained just as quickly. A short lesson on clubs and balls, and the groups are already off around the course. We’ve designed, tested and set it up for you in advance. One challenge awaits you in the boss’s office: from his desk, you have to play the ball into a wastepaper bin. Not as easy as it sounds: contact with furnishings or other items counts as a penalty stroke.
Next, we plunge a conference room into darkness, with just enough candlelight to make out the course. You play this station with glowing golf balls, known as night golf balls. A long corridor, for example, can become a driving range where you use ultra-soft balls. Can you shoot an albatross? Don’t worry – no need to call animal rescue. An albatross or an eagle simply means you’ve scored under par on that hole. Because, as in ordinary golf, the fewer strokes, the better. And at our Christmas golf, the fewer strokes, the more baubles you get. Our guides, who act as caddies, lead the groups round the course, explain the challenges and, of course, fill in the scorecards.
To finish, all the teams come together, marvel at each other’s – hopefully magnificently decorated – little trees and find out the results: the most successful golf club in your company is… Good to know: all participants can of course take their decorated trees home.
How was it? Here’s what our clients say
These companies joined our events and created lasting memories. Read what participants say about their experience.
Our whole team had a lot of fun, and the teamio staff were clearly enthusiastic too :)
This year, we enjoyed a wonderful team event with teamio for the seventh time!! From our first wishes through every discussion to the delivery, everything was IDEAL. I can’t think of anything that should have been different or could have been better! Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen! After all these years of shared experience, we would even book teamio blind, without knowing what to expect!
All of us at EKV Köln und Region really enjoyed our time with teamio. They were very professional and well organised. All the event equipment was tidy and well maintained. It showed us once again how valuable it is to have people who specialise in this professionally.
The advice was very good, the implementation was very straightforward and supportive, and the delivery was perfect. Thank you!
I booked a soapbox event and we were all really impressed. You exceeded every expectation. Super creative, a great atmosphere, very professional, friendly and so much fun. From the organisation through to the event itself, the team was very attentive and highly capable. Above all, they managed it despite having to set up and run the event away from their usual base at an unfamiliar venue. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
The event was very professional, from the planning through to the end of delivery, as was our contact with the staff – a thoroughly successful event.

Frequently asked questions about Christmas golf tournament
What does the Christmas golf tournament involve?
The Christmas golf tournament is an indoor golf event in which several teams make their way around a golf course set up specially for the occasion. Along the way they play for Christmas tree decorations for their mini Christmas trees – dwarf Alberta spruces.
How does the golf team event work, exactly?
The teams work their way through a course of six stations, set up in offices, conference rooms or corridors, for example. With any luck, they’ll earn decorations for their mini Christmas trees at each station. At the end the decorated trees are presented and the best team is crowned.
Where can you run the Christmas golf tournament? Could we hold it at our workplace?
Our mobile golf event comes to you – at an event venue, a conference hotel or your own workplace. We design the course around your group size and the conditions at the venue, giving everyone something to get excited about. Yes, even at work.
What group size is the Christmas golf tournament suitable for?
We organise our Christmas golf tournament for teams of 20 to 250 people. If you have a larger group, ask us what’s possible.
How long does the event last?
We allow 1.5 to 2 hours for the event, depending on your group size, the venue and, of course, what you’d like.
What happens to the Christmas trees after the event?
Participants can take their decorated mini Christmas trees home at the end of the event – a unique trophy from this festive team event. Good to know: the dwarf Alberta spruces are potted and can be planted out after the team event.
Is any previous experience needed?
No, you don’t need any previous experience for our Christmas golf tournament. We’ll introduce you to the equipment and briefly explain the rules. Then our team joins the groups at the different stations and makes sure they have their moments of success along the way.
Can you run the golf event in English too?
Yes, we’d be happy to run your Christmas golf tournament in English.
