one event - one tree: 281 trees planted
The Essen-based event agency teamio planted trees for the team events held in 2019. To be precise, there were 281, as there was one for each teambuilding event. This means that every customer now has their own tree; some even have several. For example, Teamio Event GmbH planted 24 trees for a large materials manufacturer from Leverkusen. Each team or department also receives an individual certificate as proof. These are made available to customers digitally - and CO2-neutrally - via email.
Successful collaboration with PrimaKlima continues
"However, we didn't plant most of the trees ourselves," smiles Gerhard Jansgers, Sustainability Officer at teamio, "but with our non-profit partner PrimaKlima e.V." The organization based in Bergisch Gladbach (NRW) was recently awarded a "very good" rating by Stiftung Warentest. Why teamio is planting these trees in Nicaragua
Due to the very good test by Stiftung Warentest, demand has multiplied immediately. The projects developed in Germany, which we have already supported in previous years, are fully funded. However, there are currently similar opportunities in Nicaragua. In this Central American country, PrimaKlima has been able to acquire suitable areas for planting trees and providing long-term support for their development.
Thorsten Walter's Green Forest Found e.V. is a sensible local alternative to PrimaKlima's compensation projects. This environmental protection initiative buys the required areas and thus secures the sustainable tree population. The areas designated as primeval forest are also supplemented by bee and butterfly meadows. A high level of biodiversity is the best prerequisite for nature conservation with the highly complex (primeval) forest ecosystem.
teamio as a driving force for the industry
Amit Lal, one of the two managing directors of Teamio Event GmbH, is particularly pleased that other (partner) companies are adapting our environmental protection project one event - one tree for themselves: "We launched this campaign back in 2016 and planted hundreds of trees, as a first mover, so to speak." Today, several companies have similar projects, such as a partner hotel, the Atlantic Congress Hotel at Messe Essen or the technology rental company Kleinklang Event. "We are delighted that we have been able to use one event - one tree to draw the industry's - and society's - attention to the important topic of the environment and environmental protection and to focus on sustainable action by all stakeholders."
