250 trees for our events
As a sustainability-minded provider of team building and team events, Teamio Event GmbH plants one tree for every event it delivers. The last trees went into the ground on 17 December 2018, on an orchard meadow in Hagen (North Rhine-Westphalia).
The Essen-based event agency teamio has marked the end of a successful business year with a symbolic gesture: 250 trees planted. One tree for every team event delivered – that’s the agency’s promise to its customers. The last 10 trees were planted with expert help from the Biologische Station Umweltzentrum Hagen e.V.. They’ll become part of an orchard meadow whose fruit will also be available to local residents and the local nursery school in future. Both are already looking forward to the local fruit varieties, the first of which are expected as early as the start of summer.
With our non-profit partner “PRIMAKLIMA e.V.” we planted a further 240 trees in Saxony, in Bockau – the Ore Mountains’ “Laborantendorf” (a village known for traditional medicine-making). “Now every customer has a tree of their own,” says a delighted Claudia Makiela, event manager, who not only works in day-to-day project management but also helps Teamio Event GmbH become more sustainable. “The planting certificates are already on their way – carbon-neutral, of course, by email.”
At teamio, though, corporate social responsibility (CSR) goes far beyond the One Event – One Tree project: supporting the sustainability initiative fairpflichtet gives the agency a sensible framework in the form of ten guiding principles. They range from working with local service providers and partners, through using electricity from renewable sources, to using equipment and materials sustainably.
“We also delight customers fairly regularly with our Kickerbau events, where table football tables are built first and then donated to social welfare organisations,” explains managing director Amit Lal, describing a fine example of a worthwhile charity event. Of course, running the business sustainably will remain an ongoing process. “We want to keep developing, and over the next few years we aim to plant thousands more trees.”
