The Essen-based event agency is planting 400 trees for its customers - one for every event held, to be precise. The team-building specialists' one event - one tree project, which they initiated themselves, is now in its sixth year.
"We've done it again!" laughs Anna Verhoolen, dual student in Event Management at Teamio Event GmbH, referring to our regular tree-planting campaigns. At the beginning of February this year, part of our team was in Ennepetal (NRW) planting trees. True to the motto "There is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes", we planted young beech trees in the forest floor under the expert guidance of the regional forester from the Ruhr Regional Association (RVR ). This was a challenging project, and not just because of the weather.
Cooperation with foundation continued
Together with the non-profit foundation Unternehmen Wald, we have planted a total of 400 trees in Ennepetal (North Rhine-Westphalia) and Schallstadt (Baden-Württemberg). These are exclusively native species such as sycamore, beech, oak and lime trees. The aim of the planting is to initiate or reforest mixed ecological forests that contribute to the preservation and development of biodiversity. The seedlings used come from regional tree nurseries and are on average three years old.
"We didn't plant all the trees ourselves, we leave that to the professionals," explains Anna Verhoolen. The soil in the local area is heavily interspersed with stones, which makes digging holes even more difficult, confirms forestry engineer Jan Muntendorf from the Forest Enterprise Foundation. "Our planting colleagues are very experienced and familiar with the local soil conditions; as a team, they manage to plant up to 1,000 trees a day."
Our sustainability matrix
The campaign one event - one tree is only one part of the ecological pillar in our sustainability matrix. We also purchase electricity from renewable energy sources, work with sustainably oriented partners and minimize our ecological footprint through specific measures.
We have already been able to implement unique corporate social responsibility projects with open-minded customers, such as table football building events or cajón workshops. The manufactured play equipment and musical instruments are then used downstream, for example in youth centers, elementary school and charitable institutions. In this way, our events bring lasting joy. Of course, we can also inspire you with gloves and spades...
Planting trees as a team event: your company forest
In future, we will be offering interested companies their own tree planting events. These are suitable for groups of 100 people or more and, in addition to the actual planting of the trees, include accompanying team tasks and an entertaining forest quiz with questions about the local flora and fauna. The CSR event can be rounded off with a healthy snack.
Good to know: The planting season starts in November and lasts until the following March. This also means that you and your team need to put on the right clothing.
