Sustainable team events: one event - one tree
As part of the specially initiated "one event - one tree" campaign, Teamio Event GmbH is supporting a reforestation project on its own doorstep. In the south of Essen - more precisely in the Oefte forest - 178 oak trees are being planted. The special thing about this is that each tree stands for a team event that has taken place. The planting is expertly carried out by the non-profit foundation Unternehmen Wald in cooperation with the regional association Ruhr Grün.

Since March last year, the coronavirus pandemic has presented society and numerous economic players with huge challenges. In addition to the tourism and hospitality sectors, the heterogeneous event industry was and is particularly affected. We were able to realize exactly 32 of the planned 350 face-to-face events in the 2020 calendar year. However, we were already able to offer our customers the first virtual event concepts(Digital Quiz Show and Virtual Live Escape Game) in May last year, and by the end of the year we had already implemented nine. "The transformation of our business model from traditional team building to interactive online team events was challenging for the entire team - but above all very successful!" summarizes Amit Lal, Managing Director of the Essen-based event agency. "And that's exactly why we can plant another 178 trees."
More than 1,000 trees planted
As part of our own sustainability matrix, we launched the tree planting project in 2016 and have planted more than 1,000 trees since then. The aim is to safeguard biodiversity on the one hand and to improve our own ecological footprint by binding CO2 on the other. "This initiative has been so well received that numerous partners and other companies have already joined or adapted it for themselves," says Jan Lange happily. "In the end, it's the overall result that counts!"
178 trees for Essen
The planting campaign is planned for fall 2021. We will then push ahead with the reforestation project in Oefte together with the Stiftung Unternehmen Wald and the local regional association. The ongoing devastation caused by storm ELA in the 2014 calendar year requires professional reforestation in order to preserve the tree population and at the same time develop it further in the long term. Native trees such as sessile oak and bird cherry ensure appropriate biodiversity and the long-term, sustainable success of the planting.
