Sustainable team events: teamio plants its first tree
On Thursday, 27 October 2016, we planted our first tree as part of our One Event – One Tree initiative. Together with forestry graduate Stefan Götze and Wilko Hennemann from the Biologische Station UMWELTZENTRUM Hagen e.V. we planted a Roter Boskoop apple tree at Haus Busch in Hagen.
Teamio plants a tree for every event it runs. The aim is to put sustainability in the spotlight for participants. “In future, though, we’ll be working with the global environmental initiative PrimaKlima e.V.,” says managing director Amit Lal with a smile, “otherwise we’d never get round to our day-to-day work.” That work involves planning, organising and running sustainable team events as part of company outings, summer parties and Christmas parties. Based in Essen, Teamio Event GmbH offers hands-on activities such as archery, raft building and table football tournaments.

Sustainability runs through every part of teamio and everything we do, not just the team events themselves. Examples include green electricity, event crates made from recycled plastics, green events whose CO2 emissions are offset through carbon offset projects, and charity events such as the Kickerbau event (building your own table football table), where the finished tables go straight into use at youth centres or similar organisations afterwards. Working with partners committed to sustainability, such as GLS-Bank in Bochum, completes the picture.
By the way, the natural apple juice from the apple trees planted in previous years tastes fantastic; we’ve already been lucky enough to take a sample back to Essen for the team…
