Virtual event ideas for teams working from home
One thing’s clear: life in 2021 still won’t be back to normal. Wide-ranging restrictions in our personal lives are part of that, alongside working from home and, consequently, online team events. That makes one thing clear: shared experiences matter more than ever.
The coronavirus pandemic has brought profound changes, and in many places it has acted as a catalyst for digital transformation. The events industry has reacted in completely different ways, from giving up altogether to cutting costs, tentatively adapting or creating entirely new business models. We set up our first virtual team events and ran them successfully as early as last summer. Over recent months, together with colleagues, partners and experts, we have developed more innovative ideas for events, which have already delighted numerous clients. With these new kinds of event, it doesn’t matter where colleagues are physically, because we bring them back together online.
A wide range of online team events from teamio
Alongside purely digital activities such as the quiz show or our Online Live Escape Game we have also established hybrid events that add something you can touch and hold. For the creative workshop, a parcel of canvases, paints and brushes arrives at your home; for the gin tasting it’s a tasting kit; for the online drumming event, there’s even a cajón kit. We send our high-quality event packages a week before the online team events – now across Europe, by the way.
“Better no online team event than a bad one!” advises Johannes Dietrich, creative mind and co-founder at teamio, “because it still costs money and, at the same time, makes everyone less keen on virtual events. Running a quiz or a tasting with just a laptop is certainly fine with the family, but not something to offer demanding corporate clients.” We produce and stream in studio quality, with several cameras, our own vision mixing and excellent sound, from our studios. We make the most of green screen technology, unless we set up a temporary studio directly in the cooking studio, a bar or the event venue. What matters is a well-judged production that suits the audience and feels authentic even at home on a laptop. Below, we present a selection of our online team events. You’ll find all available activities in our overview of virtual team events for companies.
Online drumming event
Enjoy a musical online team event with your colleagues working from home. Before the virtual get-together, everyone receives a kit at home for a cajón (a Peruvian box drum), which we then build together. Our presenters stand in front of the camera in the studio and guide you through the build. As soon as the drums are finished, our drum coaches take over. Now for something loud, rhythmic and, above all, one of a kind. Pure energy!
Virtual cooking event
Without doubt our tastiest online team event. Because we currently have to forgo in-person events in our cooking studio, our cooking boxes with all the ingredients are delivered straight to your home. And if you’d like, we can include matching wines and online advice from a sommelier, of course. Then we welcome you from our kitchen studio, with a professional chef and a host, to your interactive cooking show. Together we cook a delicious three-course meal, you at home and us in the studio. Every now and then we peek into your pots, so that nothing burns… At the end, there’s only one thing left for us to say: bon appétit!
Creative workshop @home
No art studio at home? No problem! For our colourful art event you receive everything you need in advance: canvases, paints and brushes. Then we get creative together: on a video call, we stream from our studio straight to you at home. You’ll paint the new company headquarters, your team values or the vision for your new product. Whatever you choose, a colourful idea for your next virtual team event.
Digital quiz show
If your team loves competition, our digital quiz show is spot on! Our one-of-a-kind presenters welcome you and your colleagues live and in colour from our quiz studios in Essen to a virtual team challenge. It takes you on a tour through the history of big German TV shows: Wer wird Millionär, Dingsda, Der Preis ist heiß and the popular Familienduell – we’ve adapted them for this entertaining online team event and devised an exciting team tournament. Top entertainment while you’re at home is guaranteed! In the end, as always, it comes down to the points, because only one team can take home the virtual quiz trophy!
Remote domino chain reaction
Always a good idea for a virtual team event: our domino chain reaction. In this one-of-a-kind event, you build one section of a large chain reaction. The special thing is that it happens in separate places and still works. Beforehand, every participant receives a kit with colourful dominoes and other building materials. Then everyone develops their ideas at the same time and builds them at home. Afterwards, the showdown is the moment of truth: will all that carefully planned coordination have the desired knock-on effect? We can’t wait to find out either!
