Archery, the classic team event
Archery has been around for around 15,000 years, as evidenced by flint arrowheads discovered by archaeologists. Originally only used for hunting, it continued to develop and became increasingly important in military conflicts; the British, for example, were known and feared for their excellent longbowmen from the 14th century onwards.
Nowadays, archery is popular worldwide as a precision sport, so much so that it is also represented as a discipline at the Olympic Games. The first time was as early as 1900 in Paris. It has officially been an Olympic sport since 1972 and a variety of competitions are held over different distances.
This sport is about concentration, but also about body control and the consistent repeatability of movements, as the German Shooting Association (DSB) puts it. Blocking out distracting factors and focusing completely on one target are of central importance.
There are now many different forms of this sport, including recurve bows, longbows and sports bows. Traditional or instinctive archery, which largely manages without technical innovations such as sights, cable pulls and the like, is becoming increasingly important again. This variant therefore represents a stark contrast to today's fast-paced world, in which appointments, urgent emails and deadlines are omnipresent.
Our entertaining archery team event is a great way to enrich your event and ensure lasting added value as a supplement or conclusion to meetings, conferences and workshops.
