Team building during the coronavirus pandemic

The coronavirus and the associated contact restrictions have made events, including team events, impossible. On 30 May 2020, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) eased the contact restrictions so that outdoor events with up to ten participants are possible again, provided they follow specific hygiene and infection-control rules. This has prompted us to develop team-building activities that remain in line with the local COVID-19 Protection Ordinance (CoronaSchVO) at all times. You’ll find our team events with infection-control measures in NRW further down this blog post.

New COVID-19 protection ordinance from 15 June 2020: events with up to 100 people permitted again

Following changes to NRW’s COVID-19 protection measures, events with up to 100 participants are again permitted, subject to conditions. The key requirements still include compliance with social-distancing rules, hygiene measures and a system for managing entry. It is also important to ensure that participants can be traced. Events with more than 100 participants require special approval from the public health authorities, as well as more extensive hygiene and infection-control plans.
Large events, such as sports and cultural events with more than 1,000 participants, remain off-limits until at least 31 August 2020.

Team building during COVID-19 – is it possible? Yes!

We take infection control further than the law requires: all participants receive personal protective equipment: sterile face masks, disposable gloves and sufficient quantities of virucidal disinfectant.
In addition, each event participant receives their own equipment, disinfected in advance — for example, kits, tools or creative materials.
We’ve also trained our team to follow the specific hygiene and conduct rules, to ensure the highest possible level of safety.

Here, we’ve listed five team events with infection-control measures that we can run responsibly even during this challenging time.

Archery: keep your distance and hit the bullseye

At our archery event with infection-control measures, each participant receives personal equipment, disinfected in advance, such as bows, arrows and protective gear. Face masks must be worn, and everyone must keep a sufficient distance from one another. Then we’re off — an exhilarating archery session together, with expert guidance.

Creative workshop: many small canvases, one large work of art created together

At our creative workshop, with infection-control measures in place, every artist gets their own easel, canvas, paints and creative materials — then we get started. Hygiene and infection-control rules, including keeping an appropriate distance between all participants and wearing face masks, are mandatory. In the grand finale, the small 30 x 30 cm canvases come together to create an impressive work of art for your company. Ready, steady, paint!

Cajón workshop: build your own cajón, then make it sing with your colleagues

We ensure infection control at our cajón team event in North Rhine-Westphalia through personal equipment — every participant receives their own building kit and tool kit. The minimum distance is also maintained throughout the music-making that follows. This rhythmic team event will stay with you for a long time — afterwards, you take the instruments you’ve built back to work with you, or home, as the case may be.

Lawn curling: bring every stone home

Face masks for all colleagues, appropriate distancing and continuous disinfection of the stones also ensure safety during the coronavirus pandemic. Our trained team supports your group responsibly and makes sure the hygiene rules are followed at all times. This enjoyable outdoor event lawn curling combines an entertaining tournament with flexible ways to run it.

Virtual team challenge

We welcome you to your first remote team event, perhaps from your home office: our hosts guide you through the virtual team event, keeping you motivated and in good spirits. The challenge takes place using video-conferencing software and an app. Participants download the app free of charge to a mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet (Android/iOS), and join the game using a QR code. Now it gets interactive: we form small teams, who take on a variety of challenges and interactive team tasks together. Collaborative photo and video tasks bring fun and excitement to everyone taking part! Let’s get ready to rumble!
